A 9-5'er turned DIY content creator. When I'm not tearing down walls and ripping up carpets, you can find me designing and building furniture, watching Marvel movies for the 100th time, and cuddling my goofy Australian Shepherd, Tokyo.
I love learning new skills and obsessing over new hobbies that last a week and hosting dinner parties.

Hi, I'm Maggie

We’re at the midpoint! Where did time go?
We are in the middle of a primary suite remodel, mainly focusing on the ensuite and bedroom first. We are currently at Week 4 of the One Room Challenge, but really Week 12 since we started beginning of February to get a head start. You can read more about my plans in my previous blog post here.

The Ensuite Remodel Progress

We are making slow progress in the primary suite – starting with the en-suite and bedroom. Still lots of things to do and I definitely overcommitted once again (no surprise right?). Here’s what we completed in the en-suite so far:

  • Installed cement board
  • Waterproofed walls
  • Primed & painted walls
  • Installed vanity tiles
  • Installed shower floor tiles
  • Installed countertop
  • Built vanity niches

The tiles are from the Cloe tiles in Green from Bedrosian. I love the variation of the tiles, they mimic zellige tiles so you can install them with no grout lines. The countertop is a quartzite called “Infinity Black”. It has beautiful veinings like marble but with the durability of granite. It is a natural stone so needs to be sealed once a year.

We put up 1/2″ cement board in the shower, covered it with fiber mesh tape and thinset and then applied 3 thins coats of red gaurd on all the walls to waterproof the shower. We installed 5″ hexagon calcatta gold marble tiles in the shower and they were the biggest pain in the butt – but that’s a story for another day.

What’s Next?

  • Install floor tiles
  • Install shower wall tiles
  • Install wall paneling
  • Build custom vanity
  • Build toilet niche & custom art
  • Install pocket door hardware & trim

The Bedroom Remodel Progress

As for the bedroom, it’s basically done; painted ceiling, installed and painted baseboards, flipped Facebook Marketplace nightstand. In my ORC kick off post, I mentioned we are going to DIY an upholstered bed frame, yeah we’re nixing that, gotta be real with the time I have left haha. 😅 We are waiting on some furniture so we can start styling!

What’s Next?

  • DIY drapes
  • Install pocket doors and trim

A Reminder:

Here is the moodboard for the bedroom, I can’t wait to see it all come together!

Moodboard for a fun modern primary bedroom, Moody blue paint for the ceiling and trim, White paint for the walls, King Platform Bed in blue velvet, Printed custom drapes
